The merriest Christmas gift of all.
Thank you to @wolfpuppet for giving me the best Christmas pen ever. You are a gem of a boyfriend.
And this is, literally, a jewel of a pen.

Jewel Fountain Pen - box, instruction sheet, eyedropper, pen
The pen is clipless, in chased BHR. I am the first person to ink it.

Jewel box
The box is in amazing condition for an object from the early 20th century. I love how the “u” is practically the “n” upside down in Fountain.

A jewel of a nib
The real jewel of this Jewel fountain pen is the nib. When I unscrewed the cap (following the imprinted “unscrew” instruction on, where else, the cap), I saw a medium stub with an overfeed. (Cue music going bananas with gloriousness, to paraphrase Douglas Adams.)

That's one crazy nib
I inked it with Caran d’Ache Storm. The overfeed keeps more ink supplied to the nib, and as you can see, makes sure there’s no “railroading” when the nib is flexed.

Writing sample
This was a quickie blog post (I wanted the Christmas pen up on Christmas day) but I hope to spend more time with the pen, and take better pictures. Merry Christmas to all, and I hope the holidays bring you pens, ink, paper, and more of the things that make our days more beautiful.

Nice pen and your writing sample is a work of art. I sometimes wonder if I’m the only fountain pen fan with atrocious handwriting.
